I bought this camera as a replacement for Nikon Coolpix S6100, I was really upset with the performance of Nikon since I bought that 6 months back.
Canon elph 500 Hs has definitely an edge over consumer grade Camera, I am not sure over professional grade high end photography.
The major difference between Nikon Coolpix S6100 and Canon elph 500 HS,
1- Incredible low light performance with Canon elph 500 HS
2- Much better Touch Screen with Canon elph 500 HS
3- Startup time is much much faster in Canon elph 500 HS
4- I am not sure the term but after taking a snap Canon 500 HS gets ready for next snap quickly w.r.t Nikon S6100
5- Overall build quality of Canon elph 500 HS is much much better then Nikon S6100
6- Canon 500 HS has better ergonomics compared to Nikon S6100I am a casual photographer and need a Camera which satisfy my daily needs and Canon 500 HS exceeded my expectations.
